OPFA Welcome

Welcome to the One Parent Families Association!

We are glad that you have found us and hope that you will become part of this great organization.

There truly is something for everyone here, whether your kids are young, teenagers or even fully grown and regardless of custody..

The OPFA has been there for one parent families for over 40 years. We are a non-profit volunteer organization.   Our activities are organized and run by parents just like you and everyone contributes to the success of the activities and the organization.   Volunteering not only helps make our activities a success — volunteering is truly one of the great “feel good” activities.   It’s also a way to meet new people in a safe and friendly environment.

You will find lots of activities for you and your family!  And we know that adults need adult time too so we have many great adult activities as well! However our organization is much, much more than activities.  We are focused on a full picture of life that includes:

Social – Meeting and spending time with like minded people

Sports – Getting out and having fun with well planned events

Support – Comes in many forms, advice to professional services

Structure – Weekly and monthly meetings, planned and easy to attend activities

Services – Referrals, discussions, vendor support and discounts when you need them most

Come out and have some fun!

Come for the kids — you’ll stay for the friendships!

    Hello Liz,

Thank you for your inquiry. Unfortunately there isn’t a group in that area. The closest groups for you would be Kingston or Oshawa. I would suggest sending an email to the National level for more information in starting a chapter.

Hi there, just looking to meet other one parent families. I have a young one and am living in Gananoque. I saw there was a volleyball night and was going to come but then couldn’t get there in time. I love to play and am apart of a group here in town. How much does it cost to be apart of the group and if i could come to an event to check it out.

Hi Shannon. The closest OPFA Chapter to you is the Kingston Chapter. Have a look at their page and see when they hold their meetings. The best way to find out more about the group is to attend one of the meetings, and talk to them about membership. There are many benefits to being a card member of OPFA, including children’s activities and social events for adults and families, sports, mutual support from people who know what it’s like to be a single parent, and great friendships! Contact one of the Kingston Chapter Reps if you’d like to learn more about the volleyball or any other OPFA activities that are running in your area.

    Kind regards,
    Sonya

    Hi
I was very active years ago in the Scarborough chapter. My daughter is here this evening and we are looking at pictures from that era and having a few laughs. The good old days for sure.

I see there is nothing in London area which is where I am now. There were so many chapters all across Canada then.

Nice to see it’s still going

Thanks for the comment Norma, hopefully we will grow this group back to the “glory” days 🙂
